Laos Tours & Vacation Packages | Top 10 Laos Trips 2024 – 2025

Despite a limited infrastructure and usually overlooked compared to its better-known neighbors, Laos brings together the best of Southeast Asia in one bite-sized destination. Breathtaking natural landscapes of thick mist-covered mountain peaks, jungle-clad valleys loaded with wildlife in a harmony with an exciting Buddhist culture makes Laos an ideal destination for backpackers and independent travelers, while luxury tourists are now also well-catered for. Laos has a rich culture and history, and though it has been a battleground many times in the past, this is a peaceful and stable country today. From the history of the Vieng Xai Caves to the temples and cuisine of Luang Prabang, Laos retains a slow, rather old-fashioned charm, and its people – incredibly friendly, even by Asian standards – are undoubtedly one of the highlights of any visit. Go Laos Tour offers Laos tours, vacation packages and all travel services to Laos. We also specialize in tailor-made Laos tour itineraries for individuals, groups of all sizes and families. Laos Tour Reviews

Outstanding Local Laos Tour Company

This is an outstanding travel company in every respect, from suggestions, response, organisation, to value for money.

It organised a 4 week trip through Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, listening to what we wanted, and our budget, and then coming up with an itinerary which we could then revise and hone.

Everything worked well, there were no mishaps, and their attention to detail was second to none.

As an experiencced traveller I can genuinely say this outfit is the best I have used and experienced.

Particular mention goes to Rebecca Tam, our sales agent, who was outstanding at her job.

Amazing Specific Laos & Indochina Trip

Our 12-day private tour of Vietnam (7 days), Laos (2 days) and Cambodia (3 days) with three adults in September 2019 was unforgettable. I worked with Ms. Tania in the Hanoi office of Viet Vision Travel through email and WhatsApp on a specific itinerary that included our own driver, guide and vehicle.

The trip included airport pickup, English-speaking guides full of fun and energy, clean vans with cold AC, cold water and lemon-scented cold towels, 3-and-4 star hotels, 3 boat trips, about half the meals, all entry fees, and airport return (including gate check-in assistance). The days were full but efficiently organized so that no time was wasted. The reduced “trip tension” from the well-oiled Viet Vision machine was worth every penny/dong/kip/riel.

I generally matched our itinerary to the sights in the equivalent National Geographic group tour, but paid less than half their cost for our private tour. Flying between Saigon, DaNang, Hanoi, Luang Prabang and Siem Reap was a breeze with no hiccups.

Yes, I’m an engineer and Tania was up to the challenge of working with me. She answered all my questions in one day or less. She provided links to each hotel option (so that we could choose). She got our visas. She helped arrange a private meeting with an English-speaking Buddhist monk. And she even upgraded our HaLong Bay cruise to a 5-star ship room at no extra cost!

The office atmosphere of fun and friendship, mixed with hard work, was evident. We were even given a small but lovely gift. It ended with hugs all around. Our sincerest kudos to Tania and Go Laos Tours.

Fabulous Laos Trip

I was helped to arrange the trip by Ms. Rebecca at Go Laos Tours. I booked the trip quite last minute over Vietnamese New Year and found the booking experience really excellent, courteous, helpful with a few options to make the most of 10 days in Northern Laos. The quality of advice, the guide, driver and accommodation was all in line or better than expectations. The added benefit was being able to book everything including the gibbon experience, which some tour operators couldn't offer. Laos is a fantastic place and Go Laos Tours made the experience for a solo traveler very simple.

Laos Travel Highlights

Laos is a fantastic destination all throughout the year because the temperature is consistently hot and muggy. The months of November through January are the best to go on a Laos tour package. It's an intriguing time to visit across Laos as it's also the driest and the primary tourist season. June through October is considered the wet season. This is a perfect time to go by river because it pours often, the heat is over 85°F. on average, as well as some roads may be closed because of floods. It is dry but hot from February through May, with temperatures exceeding 100°F.

Over 100 various ethnic groups make up Laos' population, each of which has its own distinctive dress, languages, customs, and lifestyle. The main ethnicity is the Lao Loum, who live in the plains near the Mekong River. The Lao Thoeng favor the lower slopes, while the Hmong and Mien are smaller ethnic groups that live in the highlands. The clothes, food, and artwork among these groups can be influenced by Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmer, and Thai cultures because many communities have cultural commonalities with tribes from nearby nations.
Laotians are renowned for their laid-back lifestyles and stable, peaceful demeanor. The majority of Laotians place a strong focus on the fundamental joys of home, cuisine, and faith, and they are frequently deeply rooted in their communities throughout entire lifetimes. The majority of Lao people reside in the countryside rather than the city, which fosters a deep sense of connectedness and binds them to their family and acquaintances. Individuals frequently travel to pagodas (temples) to make gifts and give alms to the monks out of respect and appreciation for them. According to the lunar calendar, Buddhist celebrations and traditions associated with the harvests and holy times are frequently observed throughout Laotian communities.

Go Laos Tours believes that one of the best ways of experiencing a country is by eating! Whether you're sampling street food, savoring a cheap meal or indulging in a banquet, there are endless options to choose from wherever you are in the world.
Laotian cuisine draws on culinary traditions from its neighbors, so visitors will be able to taste the flavors of China, Thailand and Vietnam in the food of Laos.

Things must eat while you in Laos

1. Larb

The Laotian signature dish is this fiery pork salad. Both residents and tourists love the flavorful dish of minced beef, chicken, or pig with lime, chile, and mint paired with veggies and sticky rice.

2. Khao Poon

Khao poon (also written kao pun or kapoon) is another Laos fascination with soups, although it refers specifically to the specific variety of noodles used in the dish. The noodles, which are thin and cylindrical, resemble sticky pasta. Although the dish's unique sour flavor comes from the fermented rice noodles rather than the pork, fish, or poultry used to make the broth.

3. Khao Nom Kok (Lao Coconut Cakes)

The batter, which is made from coconut cream and rice flour, is put into the heated pan's round molds and baked till golden brown. The cakes are crispy outside but velvety soft inside too, and each is offered in its own tiny banana-leaf bowl. Not only the sweet coconut cakes, however. Look for the more often consumed local dish, the somewhat sweet-and-sour khao nom kok with green onion.

4. Laos Beer

A bottle of locally brewed Beerlao, best served chilled at the conclusion of a busy day of touring, is the solution to Laos' tropical heat.

Visit the TAEC to learn about Laos' diverse ethnic groups

The TAEC (Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center) is perched on top of a tiny hill in a typical Lao town and is situated in the heart of Luang Prabang, close to Dara Market. The greatest museum in Laos to learn about Laos history, textiles, and traditional arts is despite its tiny size.

Wear Sinh - the Laos skirt

Whether touring ancient landmarks, shrines, or taking part in ancient rites, Laos’s tourists are encouraged to wear Sinh as a mark of respect and admiration for the local culture. Visitors will gain respect in Lao society by donning Lao Sinh.

Check out a former Royal Palace

The residence area of the museum has been preserved precisely as it was when the royal family departed in 1975, providing visitors with an insight into Laos' turbulent past.

Stayover a night at the Ballet (Phra Lak Phra Lam)

Lao dancers use symbolic motions during performances while wearing crazy outfits and lacquered masks, all to the accompaniment of a traditional Lao orchestra. The sacred Jataka tale, also known as the Lao Ramayana, is acted out during plays.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 6 o'clock, shows last around an hour and a half, and tickets start at 100,000 Kip ($10.70 USD).

Visit a Lao handicraft village to meet traditional craftspeople

There are many options in Luang Prabang to visit local artisan communities that are known for producing unique Lao handicrafts like weaving, papers, ceramics, and knives.

Discover the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Luang Prabang

The UNESCO-designated ancient quarter of Luang Prabang is located on a narrow peninsula created by the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers. With its Lao-French colonial architecture, more than 30 Buddhist wats, and breathtaking vistas of the mountains and river, Luang Prabang is the ideal city for leisurely Laos tours.

Top 10 Adventural Activities Should be Listed in a Laos Trip

1. Waterfall Wander

Everyone visiting the Luang Prabang region must take a stroll around the serene Kuang Si Falls. Both visitors and residents seeking relief from the heat are attracted by the lovely ambiance created by gentle cascades of water flowing into blue pools.

2. Petanque Experience

The Laotians like playing petanque, a French game that is similar to bowls. Try to join in if you happen to see some youngsters playing these games on the sidewalk; it's entertaining, easy to learn, and free.

3. Amusing Biking

One of the best ways of spending an afternoon in Laos vacation is to rent a bike and ride through sleepy towns, tiny farms, and farmlands. This will allow you to soak in the beautiful countryside, meet people, and get in shape at once.

4. Have a Kick

Enjoy a little Sepak Takwar with the locals in the car parks, sidewalks, and playgrounds of Laos to get right in on fun. The people of Laos enjoy a game, which has been compared to a cross between soccer and volleyball, as do people across South-East Asia.

5. Have fun with the Paddle

A fun and entertaining way to have some exercise and explore Vang Vieng's beauties is to paddle a kayak down the Nam Song River.

6. Immerse in Nam Ha's nature

This restricted region is a hidden jewel for outdoorsy types, bird watchers, and animal lovers because it is home to numerous rare plants and animals. Animal sightings and spectacular natural vistas are just two of the numerous pleasures of the strenuous journey through the woods.

7. Bracing River Swim

On a scorching summer day, cooling down in one of Laos' many rivers is the ideal solution.

8. Spiritual Stroll

An unhurried stroll through the eccentric Buddha Park in Vientiane (also known as Xieng Khuan) is like participating in a live historical, religious, and art. The enormous sitting Buddha is the main attraction for most people in this collection of Hindu and Buddhist sculptures that reflect myths, legends, and tales. Trees, meadows, and wildflowers around contribute to the tranquility.

9. Cruise Along the river

A memorable Laos tour is a boat trip along the Mekong. Relax outside on the deck, feel the wind, and snap pictures of the towns, people, and hills passing by.

10. Tough Trek

On a strenuous walk, test your physical stamina against some of Laos' peaks. Pack your best trekking boots and a feeling of curiosity since there are numerous alternatives and locations to hike throughout Laos due to its rugged landscape.

The numerous marketplaces in Laos are not only a terrific place to find handmade goods, purchase fresh vegetables, and interact with people, but they are also among the most great areas to shoot pictures. To be assured that you can carry particular things back into your place, it is a smart option to verify with your regional customs officers.
Must-buy things while you travel to Laos

Textiles

A wide variety of extraordinary fabrics of the highest caliber are created by Laotian weaving. The most popular fabrics are silk & cotton, and with a wide variety of handcrafted linen and cushion coverings, tablecloths, shawls, and purses available, it won't be difficult to exceed your baggage allowance here.

Saa Paper

The residual byproducts of the silken business are used to make Saa paper, often referred to as Mulberry paper. In several of Laos' marketplaces and shops, you may purchase Saa papers notebooks and stationery, postcards, or even lovely dangling stars.

Hmong Handicrafts

In most marketplaces in Laos, you may find vivid handicrafts made by the Hmong people. For friends at home, hand-embroidered bedsheets, colorful apparel, and cotton dolls make heartfelt presents.

Highlight Festivals and Events in Laos

Bun Pi Mai (Lao New Year)

Laotians celebrate up to 3 days to fully celebrate the New Year. As the sorrows of the previous year are swept away to welcome the new year of fortune and wealth, the joyful season is marked by water fights, public gatherings, banquets, smiling, and happiness.

Vientiane Boat Racing Festival

At the conclusion of Buddhist Lent, a large boat racing festival draws competitors from across Laos to Vientiane. Thousands congregate on the riverbank to watch the matches, and food stands and spectaculars line the sidewalks to provide entertainment.
