Full Itinerary
Day 1: Luang Prabang Arrival
Upon your arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, our guide and driver will pick you up and drive you to the hotel.
Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the best-preserved cities in Southeast Asia. Its temples date from the 16th century for the oldest ones. The oldest wooden ones, however, did not resist the various Chinese, Burmese or Siamese invasions. Visit the main temples. You will discover the beautiful Wat Xieng Thong temple, “monastery of the flamboyant city”, dating from the middle of the 16th century. Then you will continue the visit of Wat Visoun and Wat Aham with its beautiful wooden pediment, Wat May, built with side galleries and 5 floors of roofs, dating from the early 19th century, one of the finest jewels of the city.
Visit Wat Sene, built-in 1718, the first monastery in the city, its viharn (main building of a temple) was covered with yellow and red tiles in the modern Thai style. Besides you can observe the sunset from Wat Phra Bat, “the southern imprint”. Overnight at the hotel in Luang Prabang.
Day 2: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou – Luang Prabang (B)
Breakfast at your hotel.
Start the day by the visit to Wat Long Khoun, the oldest temple among others. The rear part dates from the 18th century; the portico, a beautiful pediment, is more recent and dates from 1937. It is this place that kings made retreats of three days before being crowned. Then you set off on a traditional private boat on the Nam-Ou River to the Pak-Ou Caves where thousands of Buddhas have been deposited by believers for centuries.
Discover the village of Ban-Xanhai specializing in the manufacture of rice alcohol and the fishing village of Ban Pak where during this pleasant day, you will be immersed in spectacular landscapes and can admire the traditional scenes of life along the river. Return to Luang Prabang by boat and visit the village of Bane Phanom weavers. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang – Oudomxay (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Then you go to Muang Xay (Oudomxay). On the way, you will visit Lu minority village, then H’Mongs and Bane Shong Cha (173 km from Luang Prabang). Arrival at Oudomxay. You will visit Wat Santiphab. Then you will be driven to your hotel.
Overnight in Oudomxay.
Day 4: Oudomxay – Luang Nam Tha – Sing Muang – Overnight Homestay (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Then you leave with your guide by private car to Luangnamtha, capital of the province. You will meet the different minorities populating in the high regions. Continue to Muang Sing, the former capital of the Lu Principality. Muang Sing is populated by a mosaic of ethnic groups that still live to the rhythm of their ancestral traditions. On the way, visit the village of the Striped H’Mongs, the village of Lenten in Bane Tawan, the Khmu village in Bane Pinh Ho, the village of Iko in Bane Ko Lak Kham May. Arrival at Muang Sing late afternoon.
Have meals in local restaurants. Overnight at a homestay in Muang Sing.
Day 5: Muang Sing (B)
Start at 9:00 Am by Tuk Tuk ( local transport ) visit Tai Lue village “ Ban Don Chai”, walk around the Village, visit Tai Lue temple “ The Tai Lue traditional-style temple”, 40 minutes walk to Akha village “Ban Pha Kha”, an hour walking through agriculture field visit Ban Sai Leck, Ban Jong Ka and Ban Nam Mai they are Yao ethnic groups to see how to make their traditional clothes, lunch provided on the trail. Take 15 minutes to walk to visit other Akha village “ Ban Nam Daet Mai”.
The Villages you visited about you will get experience into the traditional, culture and daily lifestyle of them. You will have personal interactions with the villagers and have the opportunity to experience firsthand from the Yao themselves the Yao culture and way of life. The final get the Tuk – Tuk back to Muang Sing town.
Day 6: Muang Sing – Luang Nam Tha (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Pra That Xieng Teung then returns to Luang Nam Tha (60 km). Checking in at the hotel. You will visit Nam N Gene village (4 km from town, rice liquor village), and Thai Dam to Bane Thong Poung (weavers’ village). After arriving in Luang Nam Tha, you will visit the National Museum of Luang Nam Tha.
Overnight in Luang Nam Tha.
Day 7: Luang Nam Tha – Vientiane (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the local market of Luang Nam Tha, transfer to the airport for the flight to Vientiane (flights operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays). Arrival in Vientiane, transfer and check-in at the hotel.
You will visit the city and its main temples: Wat Sisaket and Wat Ho Phra Keo, two temples that have been turned into a museum and are home to splendid examples of Laotian Buddhist statuary, the reliquary of That Luang founded by King Setthathirath in 1566. Considered as the most sacred monument in the country, this imposing stupa surrounded by a cloister, is capped with an elegant arrow that seems to spring from a row of lotus petals. Visit another version of the Arc-de-Triomphe, door of the victory. Have a stroll on the banks of the Mekong to observe the sunset. Overnight at the hotel in Vientiane.
Day 8: Vientiane – Pakse – Tadlo – Pakse (B)
Breakfast at the hotel then transfers to the airport for Vientiane – Pakse flight. After your arrival in Pakse, you go on an excursion to Tad Lo (by the road No. 13B), the territory of the Lao Teung peoples. You will visit Bane Lak Sip Chet (Blacksmith Village), Bane Lak Xao Et (Road No 20).
Bus tour to visit the Phasouam Falls in Muang Bachieng and a 30-minute trek to admire the natural forest. Then we continue to Bane Houey Houne (Katou ethnic village), Bane Khieng Tad Soung (Nge tribes) near Tadlo. Take a rest near the falls. Return to Pakse via Muang Tha Teng and Muang Pak Song. On the way, visit Bane Kok Phoung Tai (Kaleum village) and visit the ARCTICA plantation near Paksong. Overnight in Pakse.
Day 9: Pakse – Champassak – Don Khone Cruise (B)
After your breakfast at the hotel, take the road to Champassak. You will visit Wat Phou temples built between the 6th and the 11th centuries. Then you will be taken to the pier of Champassak. Visit Lao Loum minority villages living by the river. Arrival in Don Khone, check-in at the hotel.
Overnight in Don Khone.
Day 10: Don Khone – Mekong Falls – Pakse (B)
Breakfast at the hotel then descent of the Mekong through the 4000 islands, from Siphandone to Done Det. When the water level drops during the dry season, the river reaches its maximum width (fourteen kilometers) and is dotted with thousands of islands.
Visit the Li Phi Falls or Somphamit, located on the border with Cambodia and visit the Khone Phapheng Falls where the Mekong rages to form thirteen kilometers away from the largest waterfall of the river. Overnight in Pakse.
Day 11: Pakse Departure (B)
