Laos History

Laos History is noted that humans inhabited in some province of Laos as early as 10,000 years ago. The development culminated in the formation of Lan Xang kingdom (million elephants) in 1353 by King Fa Ngum, who was raised by the Khmer in Angor Wat, Cambodia. He gathered these towns and became his capital in present-day Luang Phabang. The kingdom was expanded by its most prominent and successful successors, King Setthathirath, who ruled from 1548-1571. He moved the capital to Vientiane and built That Luang Stupa, currently the country's national symbol. The seventeenth century was the beginning of the kingdom's most illustrious era and witnessed early contact in Europe with merchants and missionaries. The dispute of the throne position broke the kingdom into three separate kingdoms, the end of a glorious period, which Vientiane is described as the most magnificent city in Southeast Asia. The invasion of Siam (Kingdom of Thailand) into Vientiane in 1828 failed but caused the city to be destroyed. The Very First About Laos History Laos was invaded by French colonialists around 1893 and after a significant struggle for self-determination under the leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party, its independence was recognized in 1954. An intergovernmental government It was established between left-wing and right-wing factions of the Pathet Lao that demanded some northern provinces. But when the 1958 National Assembly election created a majority for the Pathet Lao in the two provinces, a US reaction led to the arrest of Pathet Lao ministers and Parliament. Then politics is characterized by a series of rapid coups and fraudulent elections. The situation worsened during the Vietnam War despite the Geneva Agreement in 1962 recognizing Laos' neutrality and prohibiting the presence of all foreign soldiers. By bombing part of the Ho Chi Minh Trail across Laos, US forces dropped more bombs into Laos than the world during World War II, and Laos is the most heavily bombed country in Southeast Asia. Especially in the Huaphan and Xieng Khouang provinces, where international teams are still clearing up the terrain of the deciphered ordinance, people still have to bear the legacy of the war. In 1975, Pathet Lao finally gained power in a bloodless takeover, establishing the People's Democratic Republic on December 2. That was the culmination of a successful national liberation struggle and completely independent recovery.
